Nadia Varga Modrić

Nadia Varga Modrić began studying piano at the age of five with her mother, later continuing in the class of Prof. Ivana Hercezi and Jelica Kuzmin. She is a laureate of national competitions organized by HDGPP, the international competition Etudes and Scales, chamber music competitions in piano duo, and a finalist of the “EPTA” competition in 1999.
She completed her Master’s degree in piano in Graz at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz in the class of Prof. Eike Straub. She further refined her skills with distinguished piano and chamber music pedagogues, including Jurica Murai, László Baranyay, Erika Frieser, Michael Gees, Chia Chou (Trio “Parnassus”), and Stacey Bartsch.
As a soloist, répétiteur, and chamber musician, she has performed throughout Croatia and abroad (Austria, Hungary, Italy, Germany, Slovakia, Liechtenstein, Switzerland). She worked as an official accompanist at masterclasses of Prof. Rudolf Leopold (Austria), Gerhard Mantel (Germany), and Valter Dešpalj, as well as official accompanist at the “Rudolf Matz,” Papandopulo, and Antonio Janigro competitions.
She has recorded for Croatian Radiotelevision and ORF. She was a scholarship holder of the “Musik und Jugend” foundation. She has performed with the Croatian Radiotelevision Symphony Orchestra and the Croatian Chamber Orchestra. In duo with Zita Draušnik, she has performed at the Osor Musical Evenings, the “Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad” festival in Geneva, and the Rab Musical Evenings. The duo received the Darko Lukić Award and the Award of the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall for the 2010/2011 season. She works as an artistic associate at the Academy of Music, University of Zagreb.
