Trumpet
Dario Tesker

Dario Teskera was born in Našice in 1971. He graduated from the Academy of Music, University of Zagreb in 1995 in the class of Professor Stanko Selak. At the end of his studies and at the beginning of his professional career, a strong influence on his artistic development was exerted by Anton Grčar, professor at the Academy of Music, University of Ljubljana, with whom he studied continuously for two years. As a result, he passed the entrance exam for the then prestigious Trumpet Academy Werder (Bremen, Germany). For this reason, in 1996 he left his position as a musician in the Croatian Army Symphonic Wind Orchestra and went to Bremen for a two-year advanced study program.
At the Trumpet Academy in Bremen (Trompeten-Akademie Werder), he had the great privilege of studying with world-renowned soloists and pedagogues. In addition to building his solo repertoire and refining his technical skills, special attention was devoted to mastering the most demanding orchestral excerpts under the mentorship of former or active principal trumpeters from several distinguished orchestras (Montreal Symphony Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Hamburg State Opera Orchestra, among others). During this period in Bremen, he studied with the following mentors: Pierre Thibaud (France), Thomas Stevens (USA), John Wallace (United Kingdom), Bo Nilsson (Sweden), James Thompson (USA), Rudolf Köpp (Germany), and Matthias Höfs (Germany).
He gained orchestral experience as a trainee with the Bremen Philharmonic for two seasons, participating in numerous opera and concert projects.
After returning from Germany, he successfully passed auditions for a permanent position with the Croatian Radiotelevision Symphony Orchestra (1998, principal trumpet) and for Assistant Professor of Trumpet at the Academy of Music in Zagreb (1999).
As an orchestral musician, he has spent the majority of his career with the Croatian Radiotelevision Symphony Orchestra (from 1998 to the present), and for several years he also worked as a principal musician in a military orchestra. In addition, he has performed occasionally with almost all professional orchestras in Croatia.
As a pedagogue, most of his work has been at the Academy of Music in Zagreb (Assistant since 1999, Assistant Professor since 2002, Associate Professor since 2011). Since 2009, he has held a permanent position at the Academy. For nearly nine years, he also worked as Professor of Trumpet at the Academy of Music in Sarajevo.
From 2009 to 2013, he was a member of the Council for Music Activities of the City of Zagreb.
He continues to be active as a soloist, as principal trumpeter of the Croatian Radiotelevision Symphony Orchestra, and as a professor at the Academy of Music in Zagreb.
