Natan Zlodre

Natan Zlodre (Croatia, 1996) completed his primary music education at the Jakov Gotovac Music School in Sinj. He completed his secondary music education at the Pavao Markovac Music School in Zagreb under professors Xhevdet Sahatxhija and Goran Listeš. He studied at the Arts Academy in Split in the class of Professor Goran Listeš, where he was awarded the Special Rector’s Award of the University of Split for artistic achievements (2017). He continued his studies with Professor Lukasz Kuropaczewski, with whom he completed his undergraduate studies in classical guitar (2019) at the I. J. Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań (Poland). He obtained a Master’s degree in performing arts in classical guitar and research (2022) at the Royal Conservatoire of the University of the Arts in The Hague (Netherlands) in the class of Professor Pavel Steidl. He further specialized in the master’s program in chamber music at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz (Austria) under the guidance of Professor Petrit Çeku. During his studies, he attended masterclasses by distinguished professors such as Zoran Dukić, Aniello Desiderio, Manuel Barrueco, and others.
In his concert career, he has given over 50 recitals in Croatia and abroad. He has performed in almost all the most prestigious halls in Croatia: Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall – Small Hall in Zagreb, Ivo Tijardović Concert Hall in Split, Bersa Brothers Concert Hall in Zadar, Croatian National Theatre in Split, Croatian Music Institute in Zagreb, Matica hrvatska Hall, as well as the Euphrasian Basilica in Poreč, Diocletian’s Palace in Split, Rector’s Palace in Trogir, Mimara Museum, and other museums and galleries. He has performed throughout Europe in centers such as Paris (Philharmonie de Paris), Vienna (Kursalon), Graz (Schloss Eggenberg), Milan (Fondazione Luciana Matalon), Madrid (Espacio Bertelsmann), The Hague (Amare Concert Hall), Oxford (Oak Music Room), Oslo (Oslo Militaere), Tenerife (Teatro Paraninfo), Dordrecht (Dordrechts Museum), Poznań (Aula Nova), Germany (Schloss Engers, Arp Museum Bahnhof Rolandseck, and Berlin Museumsinsel), and others.
As a chamber musician, Zlodre, together with Spanish guitarist Silvia Escamilla Jimenez, is the founder of Duo Vermeer, established in 2022 during their master’s studies at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague. Duo Vermeer performs works representing various artistic influences and historical periods, offering a panoramic view of performance and the development of composition from the Baroque to the present day, with an emphasis on their own arrangements of Spanish composers. He also regularly performs in a duo with saxophonist Ivor Zlodre, with whom he places special emphasis on premiere performances of works by Croatian composers, for which they receive continuous support from the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia.
Zlodre made his professional debut with the orchestra of the Croatian National Theatre in Split in 2020. He also performed the Croatian premiere of the Paganini/Goss concerto at the Cathedral of St. Stošija in Zadar with the orchestra of the Arts Academy in Split in 2015. He performed as a soloist in collaboration with the chamber orchestra Splitski Virtuozi under the direction of Wladimir Kossjanenko in 2025, and continuously collaborates with a string quartet from Austria (Brač Classic). Zlodre is one of the young artists of the Open Strings Berlin platform in Germany. In 2020, he released his debut album “Guitar Impressions” in collaboration with the label Orpheus Classical.
Zlodre has performed at renowned festivals abroad such as Villa Musica Rheinland-Pfalz in Germany, Bachfestival Dordrecht, Muzikale Oktober Best and Muziek Festival Jeker Klassiek Maastricht in the Netherlands, ARSONORE International Music Festival in Austria, Akademia Gitary: festiwal in Poland, Madrid a Tempo in Spain, as well as festivals in Croatia such as: the 14th MAG Festival International Chamber Music Festival, the 63rd Split Summer Festival, Musica Maxima Chamber Music Festival 6th and 7th editions, Brač Classic Festival, Solin Classic Chamber Music Festival, Šibenik Music Evenings, and the Youngmasters Festival Samobor. He has given recitals in concert cycles such as: Novi val klasike – Cultural Center Novi Zagreb, Mladi za mlade cycle – Public Cultural Institution Croatian Home Split, Cvijeta pl. Cindro Cycle, Editio Princeps Music Salon Split, Young Musicians Concert Cycle mo. Vinko Lesić, Young Musicians at Matica hrvatska cycle where he was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation by Matica hrvatska (2013), Ciclo Jovenes Virtuosos de la Guitarra Ronda in Spain. He also performs at Guitar Days in Zagreb, Split, Poreč, Trogir, Vrsar, Sinj, Koprivnica, and Supetar. Zlodre’s solo recitals were supported by the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia in 2023, and he also regularly appears on Croatian Radiotelevision programs.
During his education, Zlodre has been a laureate of numerous guitar and music competitions for young musicians in Croatia and abroad, and is the recipient of the annual “Young Guitarist Prize” (2014). He has been employed at the Jakov Gotovac Music School in Sinj since September 2022 as a guitar teacher, where he is the initiator and artistic director of the professional-artistic project Guitar Days Sinj for the period 2024–2026. During this period, he secured guest appearances, master workshops, and seminars by leading world artists (Pavel Steidl, Ana and Viktor Vidović, Zoran Dukić, Petrit Çeku). He organized and moderated professional lectures and masterclasses for gifted pupils and students, thereby improving the teaching process and the school’s visibility at national and international levels. The project has been under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia since 2025. He is also a member of the organizing committee of the International Summer Music School Sinj. Zlodre is a key initiator of international institutional cooperation in teaching mobility Erasmus+ (Project type K122) between the Jakov Gotovac Music School and the Conservatorio Profesional de Musica de Santa Cruz de Tenerife within the framework of the school’s European development plan. He also leads masterclasses in Croatia, Spain, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In his scientific research work, he held a presentation titled “Synesthesia in Classical Guitar Recital: An Approach to Programming” as part of the Master Research symposium at the Royal Conservatoire of the University of the Arts in The Hague, published in the Research Catalogue – an international database for artistic research in 2022. He participated in the translation of a scientific article titled “Piezas caracteristicas (1930) para guitarra de Federico Moreno Torroba: en torno al casticismo” by Silvia Escamilla Jimenez, published in the journal Gitara 26 (2024) and Gitara 27 (2025) of the Croatian Association of Guitar Pedagogues.
