Luka Norac

Luka Norac (Split, 1999) graduated in 2022 from the Academy of Music, University of Zagreb in the class of Prof. Dragan Sremec. He spent his fifth year of study in Vienna at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna under the mentorship of Prof. Michael Krenn, while his first year of saxophone studies was completed at the Arts Academy in Split in the class of Prof. Gordan Tudor, enrolling as a young student.
He is the recipient of numerous recognitions and awards, including first prizes at the Daleki akordi competition and at national competitions organized by the Croatian Society of Music and Dance Pedagogues. He received the “Oskar znanja” award in 2008 and 2014, presented by the Education and Teacher Training Agency. In 2015, he won First Prize at the international competition Ohrid Pearls and fourth place at the Marco Fiorindo Competition in Turin.
In February 2016, he performed in Prague with the Prague Philharmonic as a laureate of the Talent Prahy 5 competition. That same year, he gave a concert at Matica hrvatska as part of the project Young Musicians at Matica hrvatska and performed as a soloist at the “Future Philharmonic” concert at the Croatian National Theatre in Split.
In addition to his solo career, he regularly performs as a member of the Jovial Saxophone Quartet, which won Second Prize at the Papandopulo Competition in 2025. He also frequently appears in orchestral projects as an external collaborator with the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, the Croatian Radiotelevision Symphony Orchestra, and the orchestras of the Croatian National Theatre in Split, Zagreb, and Rijeka.
During his education, he attended numerous advanced masterclasses led by distinguished international saxophonists, including Arno Bornkamp, Miha Rogina, Jean-Yves Fourmeau, Claude Delangle, the Papandopulo Quartet, Matjaž Drevenšek, and many others. Due to his outstanding academic success in the 2017/18 academic year, he received a scholarship awarded by the Marin Čilić Foundation.
He is a member of the Sinj City Band, with which he has participated in numerous events, including the 17th Alka festivities.
He is currently employed with the Symphonic Wind Orchestra of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia and works as an external associate at the Blagoje Bersa Music School in Zagreb.
